Family Vacation Portraits-Maui Photographer
July 21st, 2009
Visiting Maui with the family? Its a great time to capture that family portrait that seems so impossible to fit in your schedule amist hectic daily life. Family portraits usually have the best expressions while everyone is enjoying some vacation time. Maui has some of the most beautiful backdrops to adorn your family portraits. Mornings usually present with crisp blues and greens, while sunsets produce
from light yellows to deep rich oranges, everyone is different! Having a family reunion on Maui? Better yet! many times family members live across the mainland and are rarely all together in one place at the same time. The Barnes Family (was such a delight to work with and) was just that oppurtuity to have the entire family present on Maui for a full Family shoot. This is a $400 shoot includes all photographers time(2hrs) and all images on CD to make your own prints thier gallery finished with 160ish images. Make-up Tips for Brides, Models, Female seniors
When choosing make up for your Maui photo shoot try to stick with matt finish and matt lip stick.
While gloss and shimmers look nice to the eye, the flash picks up in the shine and glimmer
of the make up and creates extra speckles on your face, some being difficult to fix with photoshop.

Clothing Tips for your Maui Family Vacation Portraits
July 15th, 2009Family Portraits, Maui Photographer
Clothing Tips
Neutral colors works best, white, black, khaki, and blue jeans. These colors match even when the tone or hue is different. Neutral colors allow you to choose clothing from your exsisting wardrobe rather than buying new coordinating outfits. Patterns are not the best idea, as they can be distracting to the viewer, drawing the eye away from the intended focus/subject…… you! Solid colors are doable, know what matches your skin tones for best results. Coordinate your outfits all wear short sleeve or long, and shorts/skirts or all long pants.

Here are a few Portrait Tips:
WHAT TO WEAR
You have a closet full of clothes, but you’re not sure what you should wear for your portrait session. Well,
here are a few ideas that will help you choose the BEST clothes to wear in your Senior Portraits.
Choose a variety of outfits. It’s a good idea to include both casual and formal outfits in your senior portraits.
You choose a few, and let your mom choose a few, that way everyone is happy.
Your face should be the focal point of your portraits. Nuetral solids or very subtle prints are usually the most flattering in portraits.
Khaki and white, blue jean and white are the best, but any variation of blue, black, white, khaki works well
most of the backdrops will add the color vibrant florals, lush green foliage, blue skies and oceans, and various rainbowesque sunsets
Busy patterns and loud colors can be very distracting in your portraits. Avoid large&bold; patterns that might tend to draw attention away from your face.
Traditional styles will stand the test of time and keep your portrait looking fresh for years to come.
Some poses will show your feet, so don’t forget to bring appropriate shoes for each outfit that you plan,
but also may be barefoot in the sand on the beach, choose your outfits accordingly
FINAL TIPS:
Simplicity is the key to a successful portrait.
Coordinate your outfit from head to toe.
Darker clothes minimize body size.
Keep the tonal range of clothing in the same group,
To assure a successful portrait, it is best to bring along several additional clothing choices and let the photographer help you choose.
Don’t forget your jewelry, especially your class ring.
You should wear your hair in your regular style. Guys should NOT have a fresh haircut. If you need a trim, have it done about a week before
your portrait session.
Take exceptional care of your complexion for a week prior to your portrait session. DON”T use alcohol based skin products. Glycerin based
soaps are great for your skin.
Get a good night’s rest, relax and don’t be nervous. Your portrait session is going to be a fun experience!
PROPS CAN HELP to show your personality and record the types of activities you are involved in. Be sure to bring some of your own props to
your portrait session. Here are some ideas of what you might bring:
Musical Instrument
Leather Jacket
Letter Jacket
Sports Uniform
Sports Equipment
Cheerleading/Band uniform
Dance/Drama props
Hats
Stuffed Animals
Favorite Pets (talk to me before hand about pets. some location I shoot in do not allow pets.
